'03-'04 SVT Cobra Vs. regular '03-'04 Cobra
Hey, I'm a bit of a newbie in the whole engine-performance scene. So, please, bare with.
I could spend all day calling people up, searching the net, or looking for books on this information but I figured I'd be better off just asking the many experts of mustang-related knowledge on this forum:
WHAT IS THE MAIN/MOST SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE between an '04 SVT Cobra and a regular'04 Cobra?[&:]
AND [if it's even possible to do;] why dont people just buy a regular Cobra and modify the engine with the parts that the Special Vehicle Team used?[>:]

there is no non svt cobra in those years [&:]
all cobras built were built by SVT (except for the old ones). I cant remember when svt started, for sure in the sn95s, but I know for sure that the 99-04 cobras were all SVT

erm. A few things to straighten you out.
1.- SVT is the maker of all Cobra model mustangs.
2.- the 03-04 years are the only cobra models to come from the factory supercharged. There is no 03-04 model cobra that is not.
3.- a cobra is a one model per year type production model. Meaning it is the top model in the mustang family, is made and designed specificially by fords SVT team, and is the only model with the title of Cobra for its year. So an 04 Cobra is an 04 "SVT" Cobra. There are no different types of cobras made in the same year. One model type per year made my SVT.
Now as for the last part of your question you could rephrase that into, "why dont people just buy a regular GT and modify the engine using SVT parts?"
The answer to that is.. some people do. The mustang GT engine and the cobra engine differ greatly. The cobra from a mustang GT is miles apart. Not to say a GT is a bad car because they're still great, but the Cobra is a much more beefed up model which not only uses a different 4.6 model engine, but also many other mechanical differences in transmission, gearing, brakes, and suspension.
Hopefully that clears some of your questions up for you. If you have any others feel free to ask! After all, you gotta learn somewhere.

Alright, thanks. I guess I was just a bit confused because I had originally thought that the cobra was made only by SVT but then recently I've seen alot of cobras that didnt have the SVT badge so I was just like... wait, what? lol.Thanks though.
