I would never go with a 99 again. I bought a 99 in the past and had it dyno'd at it's best run of 252 RWHP. I had a lot of mods done to it then, but I would go with an 03/04. I believe the only forged internal is the crankshaft. At least for the 01 it is. The recall ported the intake, added a better high-flow set of mufflers, and reflashed the computer for the 99 recall. I wouldn't trust the SVT company in asking if the recall has been done. I asked and they said it had been done. Just go with the 03. I wish I had the money to get one but I have to settle for my 01 at the moment =)

If you're gonna put a kenne bell on, the absolute best way to go is the terminator. Reason for this, the terminator block and internals are MUCH stronger than the 99-01 cobra block and internals. Once you start hitting the higher boost on a supercharged99-01 cobra, you're risking blowing your motor. IMO (and I'm sure many will agree with me) the terminator is muchmore capable of handling 500-600 hp. Get the terminator, you will NEVER regret it.

I just bought a '99 Cobra. How do I know if the recall fix had been performed (short of taking it to a shop for a dyno test)?
I've checked the Ford website that allows you to enter you VIN and be told what recalls are out for your vehicle. It said that none applied.
The previous owner said that he hadn't returned it for any recalls. Were all '99saffected by the low HP problem?
