Default Info from guys with BIG MEATS!

This really goes out to the 99-04 cobra owners running some wide rear tires 295+. I have a 99 cobra and was told by a semi-reputable source that 315 or 335s would not fit without modifications due to the IRS. Can anyone with some big tires chime in and let me know what if any mods you had to do? and what rims/tire combo you are running? Thanks for any input!

You shouldn't have any issues... some tires you can even put on 17x9 rims... the Nitto d/r 315/35/17 can fit on 17x9 rims.. most others you need 17x10.5, but i don't think spacers are necessary for most types on the 315... 335's it wouldnt surprise me.

Running Nitto 555 335/30/18 on 11" rims on the back. Not sure what the back spacing is on the rims. Beware - these tires have zero grip on wet surfaces. I have to be careful when my neighborhood waters the streets ( I mean grass) at night.

yeah I was gonna say Nitto 555r's accually get pretty good wet traction. I wouldn't know because I don't drive in the rain if I don't have too.

I try not to take it out if it looks like rain but here in Houston thunderstorms pop up really fast. I just bought the car from my dad and he swears the tires only have 500 miles on them but they are bald in the center. He said he didn't have them shaved either. Who knows, maybe the old man was doing donuts in a parking lot!

I have a question - I want to replace the Nittos with a street tire. What should I go with for a 18 X 11 rim? I would like decent grip ( I know thats all I'll get) and something I can drive in the rain if I have to.

If they were bald in the middle... they were probably over inflated...

Well, I say middle but it was all of the way across. The passenger side is worse than the driver side. Any advice on what street tires to get?
