Default looking for the perfect sound

I have recently purchased a Flowmaster super 40 series for my 04 Cobra ( I was told by Flowmaster that this is the only bolt on kit that they offer without any modifications ). Off road Bassani X pipe ,no cats, no resinators with super 40 2 1/2 inFlowmaster. Not happy with the sound, has a high pitch, raspy sound. On my 04 GT have 40 series Flowmaster off road X-pipe, no cats. no resinators. Has a great louddeep rumble at any RPM. Also have a 92 LX 5.0 with a 50 series Flowmaster H-pipe, no cats. Not real loud but has that nice deep sound. Flowmaster is telling me to get rid of the X-pipe, but this doesn't make alot of sense because I had almost the same set up on my 04 GT. I do realize the Cobra motor is pushing more horse ( 468 RWHP to be exact ) but the sounds are completely different. Need some advice on what to change or what exhaust I can go to that has great sound. If possible please give me web sites with sound of a 03- 04 Cobra.

I've got an 04 Cobra w/ Bassani X pipe to Borla Exhaust:

I love it. But, sometimes it coughs a little too much for me when I let off the gas.

you gotta remember that a 4v is different then a 2v when it comes to sound. My bet is your gonna wanna change to a H pipe.

mustangexhaust.com

My 2 cents: Ditch the X and get an O/R Pro Chamber.

I suggest keeping your catback and replacing the midpipe. A Mac Prochamber or O/R H would sound good with your car.

My exhaust set up is in my sig. Here's a clip.

Edit: I just updated my sig. I have the same Cat Back as you, but with a Mac O/R H pipe.

ditto, if you want to keep the Flowmaster then look for an H-pipe. My personal choice would be to ditch the Flows and match a Bassani cat-back to the Bassani mid-pipe you already have.
