Default hey everyboy, newbie here with some ?'s about 03-04 cobras

alright everyone im completely new to the forums, i recently had a 02 camaro ss and it got rearended pretty bad(tihnk its totaled)and with the insurance money im gonna get a 03-04 cobra.I have done some research about them and i have a few ?'s i wanted to ask you guys that own the TERMINATOR. first of all how much hp/tq can the stock rearend handle? i ask because ifyou know aboutthef-body you know ithad the wack a** 10 bolt. also if anyone knows,is there a big difference between driving the cobra and driving the ss(shifting wise)? what is staying in boost? what exhaust do they come with stock? thanks for any help

their rear ends are a looooottttt stronger than the f bodies for the most part my buddy with a built trans am ws6 used to toast his all the time. They have all forged internals and the engine is easy to mod to 500+ hp and 500+tq and still want more just an awsome car go buy one!!!

never heard of anyone blowing a rear end due to too much power. it the wheelhop that gets you, you should be able to go into some extremely high HP levels as long as you watch the wheel hop.

the exhaust is just a ffrp performance exhaust nothing special, manifolds, h-pipe- catback. driving shouldn't be too much different but the clutch pedal is really heavy compared to most.

If you buy the stop the hop kit from steeda then you can stop some of the wheel hop but not all of it. And as for buying a 03 04Cobra go and get one fast!!!! I have had mine just about a year and trust me SS, WS6 dont stand a chance and with few minor mods neither does a ZO6!! Hope you make the right choice.

03-04 Cobra's are the sh$t.I had a '00' ws6 I bought brand new and modded the crap out of it over the course of 4 years.( yeah the stock 10 bolt is aPOS)It was stupid fast though, butI always hadmore love for the stangs, foxbodys mostly, then I got intothe 03-04 Cobra's and sold my 92 Gt without any regret.I'm picking myBlack 03 Cobra this Friday, I can't wait! F-body's are dead as dead, test drive a 03-04 Cobra you will never want a T.A or Camaro ever again. Shifting wise I will say the cobraclutch seems a littlestiffer, The stock exhuast is way to quiet for me.

so what do you need to change to get it louder, the mufflers or all the piping?
and thanks for all the replies guys, i cant wait for the insurancepaperwork to go through so i can get this car and go race some of my f-body buddies.how well will a stock cobra hold up against a 06' gto with a tune and 373 gears?

Just a midpipe ( H-pipe or X-pipe) and a catback for the exhaust. I here aftermarket headers don't make a huge HP increase and are a pain to install. As far as a 03-04 Cobra racing a 06 GTO with a tune and gears, I would say it would be so close it would come down to who's the better driver. The guy I'm buying my all stock Cobra just bought a 6.0 GTO and he said the Cobra is faster.
