I'm going to take a look at a 1997 cobra with 54k mi.,that appears to be in real nice shape, the car has a salvaged title, but the guys says it had no frame or engine damage (it was hit in the front left)...I'm also going to run it by a ford dealership for them to check it out...if it gets a clean bill of health, I'd be pretty interested...give me an idea about what would be a reasonable price to pay if it checks out and is in fact in good shape...I plan on doing quite a bit to it, so the lower price is attractive...so price? other thoughts? thanks guys

the rule of thumb on salvage titles is 50 cents on the dollar, so give no more than 1/2 of book value, and plan on never selling the car. Most people will veer away from salvage titles. They are a good deal if it is something you want, but cant afford a nice one, but you gotta want to keep it.

Exactly what was said above. If you buy this car, keep in mind of never selling it again, because it will be extremely tough selling it. When I was looking at a Cobra, I found a few that had a branded title, that were clean; however, I backed out because I want to know that I could sale it one day If I everwanted something different or for whatever reason. Keep that in mind. Stronly look at your options, besides saving money.
