RE: 04 cobra/04 mach 1
if you wanna go n/a get a mach if you wanna do f/i get a cobra.
i like the mach more for drag racing bc the solid rear,
there is a mach around here with 4.10s mid pipe cat back tune and a t-56 that can hang with a stock cobra i dont know if he was ling about what all he had done or about hanging with it but it was a quick fuggin car. i love my mach.
just go for the mach bc the hood.

It really does depend on your goals. If you want something fast as is with light mods, you're looking at the Cobra. If you're looking at something cheaper with less potential for modding and slower as stock, it's the Mach. However, if you want to dump some real money in, you're probably about even. To make a really fast strip car, the Mach will need a rebuilt engine and whatever supercharger or turbo or nitrous you want, and the Cobra will cost more to start, plus need a solid rear axle and whatever supercharger/turbo/nitrous upgrades you want, which I'd take a wild guess in saying would put them at pretty much the same cost. Just see what you want to do with it first.

the cobra is the faster car out of the box for sure, and easier to mod. Seeing as alot of the machs a cathing the same price point as alot of the terminators i would go cobra for sure. easier and cheaper to swap in a live axle then to forge a motor. my.02.

Maybe which one you get might more depend on the deals you see. You'll pick up a Mach 1 for less money than a 2003/2004 Cobra. If you're looking to make at least 450rwhp with a minimal cash outlay then the Cobra is the way to go. With only an intake, exhaust, 2.90 pulley and tune I made 457rwhp and 480rwtq. And I personally love the look of the Cobra. Muscular without being flashy. One reason why I don't like the GT500. But you can't go wrong with the Mach 1. It is a great muscle car. Best of luck with your decision.
Oh, and as far as the Cobra's IRS maybe being a drawback at the track, while the solid rear might be easier to adjust to, a properly prepared (link follows) IRS will serve you well without you having to compromise on the IRS's advantages.
