Default RE: Common Problems on High Mileage Cobras

i bought mine for 17k with 88k on it. car was and still is stock. problems it has given me are as follows:

-alternator went out [heard its common on these cars]
-stock battery went too
-got a cylinder #2 misfire [replaced all plugs]
-clutch on its way out [car currently has 98k miles]

it has taken care of me as i have taken care of it.

change oil every 3k miles with fully synthetic mobil 1.

and mobil 1 filter

only mod is a b&m pro ripper shifter
whattta difference.

an 01 cobra can be had in that price range with less than 80k miles...
What would be the point in owning a Cobra if its not even S/C.

what a dumb question, but would should i expect, right?? yes, ofcourse the terminator would be the number one choice, but to those that can't afford it, 01 cobras are a good alternative... u get a very nice interior, a stout engine package, irs for those that like curvies, and the svt name.... for worth.

i started with an 01 that i bought at a timewhen i couldnt afford a terminator... now 3 years later, i could easily afford a termy, but decided to build my 01 instead... i figured i wouldn't be down that much money anyways, since my plans were to go all out... so even a terminator drivetrain would be too weak for my plans, so all i did was convert the body to a terminator, then get a REAL built motor, 1600hp capable, along with all the supporting mods... even the "built" stock terminator engine wouldn't have lasted long, with the mods i have now... also, i have a solid rear swap, so i didnt neeed the terminators upgraded irs...

now im sure ur going to ask me, why didnt i jsut get a v6 shell, since i changed everything anyways... answer: because i wanted a REAL cobra... even if it wasnt a terminator, no one can say im not a cobra... also, attachment builds, and i wasnt in a hurry to give my baby away for a quick upgrade...

to each, his own brotha

The half-shafts, see if they are leaking. Well for that matter if anything is leaking!
