2003 cobra factory stereo... Can i install a sub?
Hey guys, I just bought a 2003 cobra convertible with 14,000 miles. And I wanna start doing some mods to it. I have a 10 inch alpine type R in a Q-logic enclosure and an alpine amp from my old car. Is there anyway I can install this sub into the cobra without having to replace the headunit or anything else? I like the factory headunit, especially since it has the 6 disc changer already. Can anyone help me and give me some guidelines to how I could do this install? Thanks - Mark

Yes. You just need to get a line converter and splice into the rear speaker wires BEFORE the factory amps. You cannot splice after the amps as that will cause all kinds of problems since that is an already amplified signal you would be sending to an amplifier. Not good! A simple line converter is a small box that has speaker wire coming out of one side and rca jacks out the other. Unless your amp has both high/low inputs then you would need nothing. (high=speaker wire, low=RCA)

Thanks for the response, can you give me a link to an adapter so I can see what it looks like. Also, what steps can you give me to install this any idea where the amps are in the car that I should tap into? Im assuming under the back seat... any instruction on how to take these out? Thanks - mark
