Default advise on 03 Cobra

Hi, all. I am in need of some advise from the ones that know. I am signing the papers on an 03 cobra tomorrow, and as of right now am starting to have some concerns. HOW SERIOUS IS THE HEAD TIC? This particular car has 20k on the clock, and is 10 out of 10. Due to this I am paying a premium for it, but its the best I've driven and seen thus far. This car dose not have the head tic at this time. Mods are as follows, mail order tune from predator, idlers, charger pulley 2.76, outside from that just the normal stuff you would see i.e. CAI, x-pipe and borla. This car has not had the head swap, and not even sure if it was built before Nov 1st. I have looked at terminators over the past year, just for fun and interest. The resent theft of my Lightning has forced me now to move on a car (really don't want to pay for a rental for another week, and already had it for almost two months). I have swapped heads out on the old fox in my sleep, but I sure don't want to ever, ever have to tear down that 32v in that mod cobra. I have seen so much speculation around what the head tic is, and not sure whats the right theory is. Is it cooling? Is it valve? Just looking for some insight. Thanks.

There are a few reasons it can happen... but it's primarily the overexposure of heat to the heads...

Use the search function it works very well now, there are a ton of threads on this site that address the head tick.

And EVERY SINGLE 2003-2004 4v Mustang/Cobra can develop the head tick; doesn't matter what stripe is on the head and it doesn't matter when it was built.

Thanks, I will try to dig a little more. Any other opinions out their? Has any one had failure that they have attributed to the head tic? Maybe I am makeing to big a deal out of it, if its just nature of the beast.

Not all have it. Just buy this...It will help prevent you from getting it. I bought it and it was a easy install. Didnt have to drop the tranny or remove the supercharger.

Go to that link I provided you - a lot of good information on CobraBOb's website...

The head tick does not cause engine failure that we know of.. it's just really annoying/embarresing.

Thanks for the links! ...one quick question, where's the freeze out plug on the drivers side & what do you have to take off to get at it!?

The freeze plug is on the right side of the motor at the back... you have to take off the blower.
