HELP! i'm stuck

Im freaking frusterated.... im changing my rotors right now, and i cant get the caliper bracket off to save my life. Its never been off due to the fact that these are the original brakes.

Ive tried a torque wrench, a impact wrench, a socket wrech with a breaker bar attached to it, but its really awkward to get in there and turn something in the opposite direction..

I mean... does Ford have Hulk Hogan drive factory to factory torque-ing their bolts for them??

theres got to be some "trick" to gettting some leverage on this, im feeling pretty worthless right now.

any ideas will be appreciated.

...I take it that it's the bolts giving you problems? ...try heating them up!

MAD SVT Feb 8, 2009 08:46 AM

shoot, i dont have a torch here.... how long you think it will take with a bic lighter? haha

i think i figured it out though, i dont know why i never tried just turning the steering wheel so i can get leverage from outside the car, rather than inside the wheel well.

if that doesnt work, i'll try what you said tim, i'll go buy one of those cheapie propane plumbing torches... and a fire estinguisher  i have alot of WD40 on those bolts..

Im gonna try when i get back from my run.

Thanks for the help

Bic will work!! ...hold it steady for 24 hours and then that bolt will be ready to spin! :) ...good luck!

thanks tim, the heat worked.. amazing how much of a difference it made, when i put it back together, i tightened it as much as i could with my breaker bar, then i heated it up again... got an extra quarter turn outta it.

thanks again.

MAD SVT Feb 8, 2009 08:32 PM
