Talking Might be joining you 4v guys!!!

So yesterday i located a set of 4v heads w/cams,retainers,sleeves,ect... for $900.
Well this sparked my attention as lately i have realized that the 2.1l KB i have now will prob never push 600RWhp/tq. so for the past couple days i have been looking at diff s/c and even turbo kits to upgrade to.

So after i seen this i was like, hmmm wonder what it would take to convert my mmr 900 sb to a 4v????
So all yesterday/last night/today i have been searching through threads on various forums to see what would be needed and i found this:

The 4 valve heads will bolt strait to the GT Iron block
Use a 99/01 cobra accelerator cable
99/01 Cobra Alternator
96/01 4 valve timing cover
99/01 water cross over tube
Use your 99 GT computer you will have to extend some cables and reverse the coil wires.
You can use you mass air meter and reprogram with a chip
99/01 cobra coil on plugs
99/01 cobra thermostat housing
99/01 Cobra intake, accelerator bracket, alternator bracket
99/01 valve covers
99/01 cobra secondary cam chains
of course the 03-04 4v stuff would work also

so i began my search, this is what i found for parts:
01 timing set - $130
01 timing cover - $150
(he is also looking to see if he has any other parts i could use)
03 COP, COP covers, valve covers, water transfer tube - $300
03 heads w/everything - $900

not bad for days work!LOL!

what do you guys thing of the prices? i am waiting to recieve pics from him.
how much hp/tq can the heads hold?
after i get the motor built i will be installing a roots blower on top.

was there anything that you saw that was not in the list of parts to get that i would need?? any input is greatly appreciated!!!

I've been looking at the timing components and wanted to know. are the 99-01 chains,gears,ect.. the same as the 03-04 parts?

Tim -

that conversion is going to be pretty expensive. Why not just get a 4v motor? Or better yet a 4v car?

You can get a Mach 1 motor ready to drop in I think it's 5k.. or you can build your own block and make it heavy duty for around the same...

I just think a 2v to 4v conversion is just a waste of time and money - better to go with a 4v build imo.

well for now it is off as the guy that was selling the timing gears, chains, cover ect... backed out from selling. so now i am back to square 1 with just the heads and valve covers located. IDK, i think i may just finish the 2v build and later on buy a cobra.
