Newbie SVT owner looking for mod advice...

I recently picked up a 2003 SVT Cobra. It has a Kenne Bell 2.2 with a 3" pulley, new crank, rods and intake porting. When I purchased the vehicle it came with a dyno sheet showing it pulled at 622 HP in October 2008.

The car has 27,000 miles on it and my mechanic just looked it over and gave it a clean bill of health.

I believe the stock 3.55's are still in it so that is something I am considering swapping out for 3.73/4.10's. I am also thinking about moving up to 18's especially if I go with 4.10's to compensate with the forced induction.

Known modifications in addition to those previously mentioned are Stage 2 Mapping from KB, KB Throttle Body, 60# Injectors, Bassani X-Pipe and Exhaust, Billet Flow IRS Girdle, Chrome 17" Cobra R's with 315/35/17 GForce's, Centerforce Dual Friction clutch, Pro 5.0 Shifter, Racecraft lowering springs and a Saleen body kit (except hood).

My thoughts are: Baer/Brembo brake upgrade, ring and pinion set, Koni sport shocks, 18's and a two-step module.

Anyone have any other ideas? I'm not looking to hit the track, just kind of weekend warrior stuff...and this is not my daily driver.

Here's a video of the car, I just posted on YouTube.

IMO @622rwhp, you really don't need to change your gears...

fatter tires? u got 600 hp, what more do u want, just drive and enjoy

I was definitely not looking for any drivetrain improvements...more handling, stopping and aesthetics. The tires are definitely on my list...that's the idea of moving to 18's and going 335.

Is there any issue with the IRS and clearance for 335s?

there u go, tires and suspension and braking

Actually, he has over 700hp. lol, but you're right. Upper and Lower control arms? drilled and slotted rotors. make em' bigger too

Whats "Stage 2 Mapping"???

Also, your dyno sheet was most likely with a 110 octane race fuel tune.. does it have a switch chip? or did it come with a programmer and second pulley to switch it over? Hopefully theres already 2 tunes stored somewhere for this ... Cause its too high to be driving with that kind of boost (most likely 21-22psi to make that much rwhp) with 91(or 93) octane fuel..
We wouldnt want you to blow it up right!?!?

The two step module wont do you any good.

Suggest putting Caster/Camber plates on it, if it doesnt already have it (POST UNDER HOOD PICS)

335's are too wide with the IRS unless you use spacers to push the wheel out (although im not too familar with the offset on the R's)

18's will give you less traction, and the tires are bloody expensive.

No point in upgrading the brakes unless you go 4 piston and 14" rotors then your stuck getting 18's. (the difference between the Bears and the stock brembos arent worth the money, thats why i say 4 piston 14"... or nothing.)

Also... as far as the gearing goes..... i wouldnt go any lower man, its hard enough getting traction now, and why would you want LESS traction and less mpg? If anything... go 3.27

My $.02

I would also suggest getting this car on a dyno soon, do you have a tuner or performance shop local? cause you'll want to verify the A/F and the timing to make sure the tune is safe.. it may be necessary to re-tune it for pump gas if its only got the race tune in it.... and you'll get YOUR OWN dyno sheet under your parameters.. im guessing on pump gas on a mild tune you'll still be putting down 530..ish

Here are some pics...there is a rocker switch in the glove compartment with a SHOOTOUT and STREET mode...which is set to STREET. The owner I bought it from told me that was there and would switch it to a whole new tune. I am going to dyno next week...planning on calling Evolution Performance in Philly.
