Default mach 1 auto, on a 96-98 cobra engine?

Hey guys, im a fox guy but i was throwing around the idea of putting a 96-98 cobra engine into my fox (toasted the old one) and was going to go with an auto for dragracing. Was wondering if the Auto Trans out of the 2003-2004 mach 1 would be a bolt up trans for this style of engine?

The tranny will bolt up fine to the engine.

But you will have other issues. You have to convert to hydroboost. You will also need the entire wiring harness and PCM. Dash removal for pedal modifications, and wiring swap, etc...The cross-member will be a little off too, but you can just make a custom one.

i dont think you need the pcm though, ive seen a 5 speed go auto and an auto go 6speed and they both kept the same computer, just got it programed when at the dyno shop.

You can go auto to 6 speed PCM's with no problems, but to go 6 speed to auto is doable, but the computer wont shift the tranny for you. So you'll need a manual lock-up and shifter...kind of a pain in the d**k.
