Default Widest tire that will fit on 2001 Cobra Stock Wheels

Hey I am in need of new front tires. My current rear tires are 245/45/17 on stock Cobra wheels.

Is there any reason I couldn't buy a bigger tire and have the tire place put my current rear tires on the front, and put the bigger tires on the rear? How wide can I go on stock Cobra wheels?

Thanks guys!

OP, if your above pics are 245's.... looks like you are on 9" wheels, but cannot be positive due to angle. Do you have any pics looking straight down the side?

If you are running a 9" wheel, I would recommend nothing more than a 265~275 for good performance on the street. Anything larger will not fit well and can get sloppy on the street, IMO.

^ max tire width on 8" wheel is 245

If one wants to exceed what is not only recommended, but safe, go ahead and do so. Please don't tell people that it is OK to exceed ALL manufacturers recommendations for tire size on a specific rim width and NOT say so.

Jazzer... keepin' it real

like i mention, the tire shop i took a 17x8 wheel couldnt get the bead to set with a stock 275 tire off a cobra, if the tire had more side wall than stock it might be able to or depends on different tire manufacturers

I know some have been successful in squeezing a VERY wide tire onto an 8" wheel..

This, my friends, is a 315 (35 series, it would appear) on an 8" Bullit

EDIT: I actually made a thread on oversized tires a couple weeks back and just now remember it...

Oversized tires are OK --->
