Looking at a 99 Cobra, what to keep my eyes open for?

Make sure it's had the recall "fix" work done. There was a recall on all '99 Cobras shortly after production b/c they were under-performing in road & track tests. There should be a blue or green dot imprinted on the intake manifold at the drivers side front corner, that is how you know the work was done.
If this is a single owner vehicle, he should be able to tell you yay or nay. I believe that it was reported to have been performed on like 98-99% of all registered 99 Cobras.

the car is a 5 speed, the t-45 is one of the worst trannys when it comes to synchros and lasting after powershifting, make sure you put a short throw on it asap, it will help big time!! and you should get about 15-18 in town depending on how much you gas it, and if you go about 70 on the hiway you can get about 19-22 mpgs....i can get that with my 97 with 3:55 gears, and that 99 cobra stock has 3:27s, but i do shift under 2 grand everywhere
