ready to start my 01
hello all. I recently bought an 01 cobra after recently returning to the States after a 2 year absence. I love this car, but need more HP. what are my limits with the stock block? can it handle 550 whp, which is my goal. I want to build this thing NA and beef up the stock tranny, and go with a 9-inch rear for the 1/4 mile. I've heard they make stroker kits for these cars, anyone have some good info about them, such as power gains? looking for reliability and power. $ is not too much of a concern right now. any takers?

he wasn't talking about limits he was talking about making that much power out of a N/A 4.6L... even if it is DOHC, people struggle to make much over 400whp N/A and thats with EXPENSIVE FR-500 intakes/heads and most don't do it on the stock block.(5.0 or 5.3s are common) Don't be so gunshy to a supercharger, in the end its gonna be more power for less money. The limits for the stock rods are ~450whp 420 seems to be a safe number, the pistons slightly more and the crank is good untill whenever so you can keep that.

i got a 99 cobra with the stock 4.6l aluminum block, i spent about 8,000 on 4.6-5.0 stroker kit wich includes 4340 stroker crank, h beam rods, dish top pistons with 9.5 cr, bored the block .20 over, port polish on the heads, stage 3 comp cams, valve seats, and stainless steele valves, took it to a chassie dyno got about 550 rwhp
