Default Clutch replaced in 01 Cobra

I am so happy! I paid the dealer to do it, I posted before about a squeaking that went away when I pushed the clutch in, turns out it was the pilot bearing, not the throwout bearing.

I had the clutch replaced while they were in there, they replaced the 57k mile clutch with a heavy duty Ford clutch (they said that the original clutch was a lighter duty unit that Ford disco'd, anyone else heard of this)?

Anyway I am extremely happy, I thought my clutch was fine, and it was. But this clutch definitely grabs harder and the car feels much quicker in 1st when I mat it from a roll.

Yeah I know it sounds crazy. I paid $700 including parts for my clutch kit/replacement. I called around, the only person that came in cheaper was only cheaper by about $60.

Trust me it was hard not to do 4.10's, CAI and a few other mods instead with that much money, but I am so much happier now that the damn squeaking/chirping has stopped.

nice! You do need to start looking around for a good shop thou to install things for you so you don't have to keep paying the dealership for future reference.

CRAP so I just posted a thread about this sound i think is coming from the clutch and it sounds like it may be the same thing you had. Did it go away after driving for a bit?

Mine never really went away to be honest, except for when I pushed the clutch in at stop lights.

Read this! I finally found the problem. The repair shop installed the throwout bearing wrong. On the clutch release lever there are retainer fingers that have to be on the inside of the throwout bearing sleeve not the outside. If they are on the outside like mine are the release lever will wobble causing the clutch pedal to rattle and push the throwout bearing tight againt the pressure plate fingers. Now it's time to fight with the repair shop that did the work. They said the problem was probably due to the quadrant. NOT. I ordered the aftermarket quadrant and cable adjuster but decided to take a closer look at it myself last night. I'm glad I did. So....for anyone with clutch pedal rattles take a look at how the throwout bearing is installed.
