Complete Fluid Flush on 98 Cobra
#11
well in that case if your just trying to clean out engine sludge than the only way to do it right is to take the engine apart and clean it yourself. that is the best way to do it. all the cleaners that any after market company sells work to a point. the only problem is you have to get all the cleaner out. and also the bg equipment is not a 100% fluid exchange. even though they advertise it and swear by it, it doesnt mean that it does. the best i have seen them do is about 95% fluid exchange. so that means you still have some gunk and sludge left over. not to mention that used fluid. its the same for all the machines. i have worked in dealerships for about 6 years and have never seen one of those machines do it perfectly. so if you want it done right then drain everything and take it apart, clean it and reassemble it with the new fluids. thats the best and only way to get all of the benefits of the new performance fluids.

I would not put any cleaner in the engine ether. You are just asking for trouble if you do. Just drain the oil and replace it with mobil 1 5w30 for hot summer temps 5w20 for lower than 50 degree or 0w20 sub 30 degree winter driving. Use a K&N oil filter because they are have the best flow rate of all production oil filters. Royal purple in the diff and trans. You can fill the trans thru the shifter area after it is removed. Much easier to do that way. You still need to check the level at the filler plug though.
