Default Naturally Aspirated Hp for '99 cobra

I am looking for some solid information on ways to increase engine performance for HP and torque while keeping my 4.6 4V engine naturally aspirated.

Well the 5 major components to making Hp n/a are RPMS, Heads, Cams, Intakes, and displacement.

RPM's- you have thoseon your side. you can safely rev your stock shortblock to 7500. although you may want to invest in an ATI dampner.

Heads- you also have The Best heads ( beside FR500's) for our cars. get them ported, not fully ported just cleaned up really good.

Cams- Get custom, CMS makes custom cams, tell him what you plan to do and he will fix you up. you want alot of duration on these.

Intake-Not cold Air intakes, but intake manifolds. NA SVT on svtperformance makes PortedShort runner intakes for 4v's. Also tell him our plans and if you want send him your plans for the car and he will make you a nice one. What a shortrunner does is move the power band up t about 7000 and gives you about 20-30hp.

Displacement- is something these motors dont have alot of,you can bore and stroke these bad boys out up to 324ci's.

The Champforn/a hp out of a 4.6 based motor is nazman, he made 534rwhp. stock displacement he made 410rwhp.

4.10 or 4.30 gears will help alot too, not hp just acceleration

Basic starts with the basic tune...Fuel Filter, Plugs, CAI, Exhaust, Gears & a good dyn tune! ...Sky's the limit, but you'll need $$$

FYI: Welcome & any pics?

That was a tricked out race motor on race gas though, not very street friendly.

Default Bolt-on 4.6 4V performace

Now that I see what it will take to increase the base naturally aspirated performance I think that power adders are a better option. What can be done to increase performace from "bolt-on" perspective? Assuming that I am going to keep the engine long block as is.

...As stated ^^^ Long Tube headers, High Flo (or O/R) X pipe & CB (exhaust), Gears (I'd go 3.90 or 4,10's with a Power adder)...as far as a Power Adder, all up to the Budget!

...Me, I'd go with a Vortech Centrifugal Superchager, injectors, BAP & Tune!

i agree, i hear the new v3 vortech is pretty sweet, that and some 4.10 gears would make a sweet car.

On the 99-01 Cobras best mod by far is a solid axle swap and gears. 4.10's are great, thats what I am running til next week when I step to 4.30's. I'm getting my entire rear redone for $1100 and a few hours of my time. Great investment for the performance gain.
Other mods I'd highly recommend are full exhaust (bassini headers are a god send), u/d pulleys(sfi approved only), dyno tune and weight reduction.

dont do the full exhaust until you figure out exactly what you want, because if you want to go turbo, youll be replacing the headers again...

Procharger also makes some GREAT units!
