Default 03/04 cobra engine in 96 cobra

All right I have a 1996 Cobra, I have been looking into it a bit and I really think its a cool idea. I want to drop a 03/04 cobra engine into a sn95 cobra. Does anyone know if there are any issues fitting it in? Is it really worth it or should I just go buy an 03/04? Any help or opinions will be helpful, thank you.

i really don't know what direction to point you in, but it does fit fine. a guy on my local forum did the swap on his 96. he didn't do a write-up though.

Well I have 2 lifts that I would be able to use. I have an engine hoist, and all the tools I could imagine. I'm going to do it at an auto shop at the high school I went too last year. I plan on buying a wrecked 03/04 cobra (as long as the engine and transmission work obviously). I plan on swapping over the engine transmission and interior. Then sell the body panels off the 03/04 or sell it as a shell what ever is easier. My long term goals are to do the swap then eventually after I get enough money saved up buy a 3.4 whipple and put it on.

I looked into it, as Im still planning to do the same or similar into my 98GT. It will be cheaper to find a engine and trans with harness than a parts car. The only real reason to get a parts car would to have absolutely everything possible and an IRS swap. Then again after seeing you want the interior to, the donor may be the best route.

Well if I didn't do the parts car I would be looking all over the place for little bits of interior here and there. and I would keep the irs for sure. I would have the straight axle for when I took it to the drag strip and IRS for if I tracked it. I would also assume the parts car would definately be cheaper and then I could sell what ever is left over from the 03/04 and hopefully make a bit of money back. I have seen plenty of 03/04s that were wrecked running for like 8-10k I saw one on craigslist for 6k like 3 months back I regret not picking it up when I had the chance. But hey what ever I can find is what I will have to do.
