Default Question about 03/04 Terminator Overheating cyl 7,8

Im looking to buy a cobra soon and ive heard of this issue before and someone called me out on it and i looked it up in more detail. Long story short early cobra's usually 03 first produced had a issue with 7,8 cyl not being cooled or recieving enough cooling causing in ticking sounds and over all engine rebuild. Ive seen theyres a kit avaliable that runs from the pass side to the drive side in the rear to help with the flow. My question is this..

Does this "feel good" cooling kit really help PREVENT the problem from happening at all or is it just a helpful pre-caution for overheating. My GT has ticking already in cly 4 but it leaks oil its beyond help. I heard also that theyres some kind of blue paint under the heads to show that the car has this mod? I dont know why it would have paint if its just hoses in the rear but thats what i was told.

Finally looking deeper i saw that its only the first few that were built that had this problem. They say of all produced about 25% had this issue. In addition they say any motors produced before 11/1/2002 are proned for this. So that being said is this date true or have people had this issue with 03,04 built after 11/1/2002. I read plenty of people who say theyre cobras had healthy lives without this mod. I want to know if anyone else has had this issue after the date and how many.

Sorry for the long thread and im sure its repeating what many have said before.. Just want the peace of mind from other owners and the hard core facts

I installed the EvenFlow Gen 2 head cooling mod from lethalperformance.com

I did it as a precaution. It was a cheap and easy mod to install so I went ahead and did it.

Thank ive been hearing alot about this product but it still doesnt answer my question on how effective it is as a pre-caution or actual fix and if anyone has had problems with this part and issues with this problem after 11/1/2002 build date

Its really up to you if you want to install. I dont run one but I also don't drive it in hot hot weather. With that being said, I know a individual with an 03 cobra with 120,000 + miles without the mod and its running strong. No serious mods on it other than an exhaust and an intake.

See thats the problem. Some people baby theyre 03's and they get it 12,000 miles later and then others drive them and they have no issues. It seems like its just completely the luck of the draw as far as buying one. I contacted lethalperformance in hopes of some kind of feedback on the longterm effects of theyre product. The given date of 11/1/2002 seems to be the cutoff yet so little is spoken about people with cobras and dates built

the overheating issue in cyl #7 and #8 is something that occurs in when doing extended "top speed" type pulls,I don't remember where but i believe the problem was the coolant not draining away from this area properly. The head tick is an actual problem that just happens and isn't really caused by rough driving. It's a production flaw not a design flaw.

For the cooling problem i would say that the head cooling mod helps alot and would be an excellent preventative measure if you plan on using the car in this way. Its cheap peace of mind if nothing else. The head tick is luck of the draw on the early 03 production ones.

Hope some of that helps ya.
