Default Questions about gears

Gears for a 97 cobra... if you go as high as 4.10 do you lose some top end speed, and does it kill your gas mileage? and what is involved in istalling them, like dont you have to get your speedometer recalibrated?

yea it lowers your top speed, idk about gas mileage but i drove in my friends 94 cobra with 456's. when were cruising at 60mph the sppedo says were doing 110 so it definatly does. his car tops at around 90 miles an hour so he lost quite a bit top end.

I have a 97 mustang cobra, supercharger and all, and i have 4.11 gears and i think they are great. Gives you a lot more low end and with 5th gear on a 5 speed mustang, which is set like at .67, i do not lose much high end speed.

4.10's(should) make you have a higher top speed because it can reasonably reach higher rpms with an "easier to wind" gear

You'll be fine with a set of 4:10s Your top end won't be affacted unless you plan on goin 170. All you need to correct your speedo is a speedo gear. Who ever you buy the gears off of should have the gear. The gear is simple to change. It's one little bolt on the side of the tranny.</P>

Ide go 3:73`s... 4.10`s are kinde steep and u will loose top speed. Aslo at higher speed i herd that u will have drivetraine vibration with 4.10 gears.
