Dropping 4.10 Gears into the Cobra
Just wanted to post my experiences going to 4.10's in my 01 Cobra. It's wonderful. I am glad I didn't go with 4.30's, as some have suggested. 1st gear with the 4.10's is already on the short side; it would have been a granny gear with 4.30's. 2nd takes you right to 60 MPH at redline; 0-60 is greatly improved, and the perception of speed is much, much greater.
Still cruises very nicely on the freeway; low 2000's at 65 MPH.
All in all an essential swap for the Cobra - I highly recommend it before power adders.

why before power adders? gears arent always wise before power adders unless you are already 100% sure what your going with...which no one ever is.
gears are a compliment to whatever power adder you go with, and the wrong gears can really screw with your overall results.

I am not so much talking about forced induction, but the other mods in the same price range ($200-$500). People often ask how they can bolt on a quick 10-20 HP without spending more than $1000. Gears help real world acceleration more than any CAI, long tubes (which are probably more than $500 unless you install yourself), or exhaust is going to.
Even with a charger, those who run the combo say that 4.10's are still a very good choice for mild to moderate boost setups. I haven't run and don't plan on running FI on my Cobra, so I can't add an informed opinion.
