I'd go for the Mach 1 in my opinion...they are really nice rides and you have the 4v just like a 03/04 Cobra minus the IRS. I love the Terminators, but I think for the price you best bet would be to pick up a Mach 1, that's my 2 cents.

Why **** the STI???
I could just as easily say that about a SS Camaro. Everyone has their own preferences and loyalties. The STI is actually a pretty good car for all around usage.

I agree with you that the forged bottom end in an '03 Cobra is far more reliable in the long run if you plan to run over 400rwhp. He needs to decide what his ultimate goals are and what his budget constraints are.

The 2001 Cobra is a decent starter car if you just want a fairly quick and practical daily driver car. It wouldn't take a lot of money to make it run decent on the street (gears would be a real good start). If he wants a brutal track car, he should save up for the '03 Cobra as a starting point.

I love my 2001 Cobra. It went 13.1 spinning with a 100% stock engine, down to the stock intake filter. I'm currently doing a Eaton blower swap on it. With a stock 3.650 pulley I'll make around 430 rwhp and it will be even funner to drive. Mach 1's are cool too, but I like the looks of the Cobras more, and the two tone Cobra interior is 100% better IMO.

Is it a good buy? Depends.

Would I buy one? No.

Reaction to mods? Well...it has a more powerful engine than your GT. It can potentially put you in the high 300HP range with a simple supercharger kit. Termi? A pulley and a tune will put you around 400HP probably.

I don't want to talk about the 05+.

pulle and tune is more like 450rwhp

01 cobras are pretty sick, i would own a mach 1 before an 01 cobra though ( and did, miss that car!) just because i dont like the IRS lol

You actually want a couple points higher compression cor a centri than you would with a PD blower.

Well I own a 99 Cobra and I love it, only thing it lacks is the supercharger. The only problem is 03/04 Cobras are hard to find in good condition with low miles and for a good price, around here it's nearly impossible to find one that meets that category for less than 19K at best, and that's just too damn much for a used car, IDC what it is. A 99/01 Cobra can be had for 10K and less and you can get a used supercharger for around $2500 if you look hard enough and be good to go. You can't run the high boost like 03/04s, and the 5 speed transmission isn't as nice as the T-56, but again, I can't justify 20K for a used car. If you can get a terminator for a deal then great, but it's hard to come by cause most Terminator owners will sit on their high price cause they know at some point somebody will buy it.
