My Tach is not working!!!
#2
Found this on a google search from corralforums from MMR. Hope this helps.
"The 96-98 Modulars were the last to use a standard square wave electrical (not mechanical) tach signal output from the ECU, the problem you are explaining sounds like the guage itself has gone bad, one way to tell is by removing the cluster and on the back you will see the tach circuit board wiring with a tracer marked Tach sig or sig (signal), this wire can be hooked to any standard autometer tach or tach that uses a square wave input to see if the problem is the ecu output or the tach itself. (a tach adapter is not required with this test since this output is already converted to a square wave signal.) It is also possible to scan this wire with the correct meter (a meter to show a square wave type signal) to check the signal.
Good Luck!"
