Off all the different Mustang gear setups I have used, 3.90s in my 2004 Cobra were near perfect....now, that was with a 6-speed, and later a 4r70w automatic swap running a 28" tall tire. I have found 3.73s to be just as effective on most of the street Mustangs running around this area, as traction becomes a serious issue once the ratio gets steeper....I once ran 4.30s in my 2004 Saleen281 2v making 260 to the wheels, and that thing would blow semi-hot Nitto 555Rs off in 1-2 gear constantly....the 3.27 gears are great for cruising and MPG, but are not the best in terms of acceleration.....

I dont understand why people complain about the gas mileage so much. I had 4.10's in my 96 gt, and i was getting 26mpg on the highway. I put a 4v motor in it, and im still at 25mpg on the highway. I dont think thats a very big hit on the wallet... just saying. In the city i would average about 19 with the sohc, and with the dohc im at the SAME thing 19mpg. its all in the way you drive people.

OP, go 4.10's.

I would go with the 4.10's.Remember your 4v likes high RPM's.If you're getting a DD anyway you might as well go with a lower gear.JMO
