so ive had my 04 cobra for about a month now and its always been wierd about going into reverse. if i went too far to the right and then up it would grind. i figured i just had to get used to the car and after a while i wouldnt notice it. well i was wrong. as i was trying to back into my garage, i noticed it didnt want to go into reverse AT ALL with out grinding. so i took it around the block and came back and i almost have to force it into reverse. it went but not without a fight. i did some research about the reverse lockout solenoid and thought that could be a fix. anyone else have this issue or know what it could be? maybe a simple adjustment on the shifter itself? if it is the solenoid, adivse on where to get it and what kind to get and how to install it?

Try putting the shifter into 3rd and than put it in reverse Ive been told any forward gear will work but it has come part of my habit any time I'm going to use reverse I go 3rd and slide over to Rev and almost every time it goes right in. Every once in awhile it will be hard or grind but it is very rare

i also try 1st then reverse when mine is stuborn, but yours sounds worse off than mine so who knows.

I have the same problem. It seems like it happens more when I shift to reverse fast. When I do it slow it usually doesn't grind.

idk what the problem is. after i let the car sit overnight, i went to try reverse out and all 7 gears shifted like butter. then after driving it for about 15 mins, i couldnt get it into reverse at all and 1st and 2nd gear are harder to get into. itll go but only with a little force, but no grinding. im going to do a flush and hope thatll help things.

Sounds like your synchro is going out. To fix that it'll basically be a tranny overhaul
