i was just cruising around getting parts for my 91 and some kid maybe 19yrs old wanted to race me im pushing 275ish rwhp in my 91 5.0 5 speed. and this kid missed 3rd but blew the doors off me. he pulled in dunkin donuts i followed him and i asked him is that SC and he said yea from the factory. he popped the hood he had a CIA, headers, and exhaust and he said the past owner dynoed it at 420rwhp. i couldn't believe it so i went on youtube and its true. i never knew they made that much power from the factory. so to get back to the point i want one now, so what do i need to look for "what goes wrong" and what do they go for? any help much appreciated.

You can find a sweet cobra from about 17k to about 25k depending on mods,miles and so on. They are always selling cobras over on svtp in thearket section under terminator buy/sell.

Tune,exhaust, headers and pulley will put the cobra at around 420-450 to the wheels. Not bad for the light mods. And these motors can handle some big power if you wanna really make it GO

I have a 01 Cobra and I went and I took it to get dynoed and it out 313hp and 317tq. I brought the car with SLP long tube headers, SLP 3in off road x-pipe and the back section and a 4in CAI. I don't know if this car had a programmer on it before I brought it but the back O2 senors are disable. Will it do me any good to buy a SCT programmer.

The 03/04 Cobras are light years ahead of your 5.0. Having owned both a 5.0 and a 4.6 4V the 4V is a totally different animal and is a beast right out of the box. Even an N/A 4V Cobra will give your 5.0 a damn good run. With that said however the 03/04 Cobras are pretty expensive for a used car. I was considering getting one when I bought my 08 GT, but the prices were just too damn high around here and I got tired of the added cost in fuel (Cobras use premium) and I drive a ton. So I went with the 08 GT which I got for cheaper than 90% of the Terminators I found that WEREN'T beat to hell. All in all I'm happy with my purchase but with that said keep an open mind when looking at Terminators. They use premium gas, have slightly higher insurance cost, and have higher repair cost due to the price of SVT parts.

If you look hard enough and have some patience, you can find all kinds of 03-04 Cobras for $25K or less....everything from completey stcok to completely modified.
