Default overheating still 96SVT.. catalytic?

okay.. i fixed the electrical issue that i was having after a head gasket replacement on driver side... (if you want to know what i'm talking about here is the thread)...

http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forum...ease-help.html

NOW the car is back together turns on strong and sound better than before...... until you hit the gas.. i haven't put it under load yet, but when I tap the throttle it has either a vacuum leak or the response time is waaaaaaaaay off... need help with this big time

another thing... even after the gasket replacement its running hot... even hotter i would say.. this could be because it's getting better flow, but when i was under the car (while running) i noticed the driver side catalytic converter (first one) was smokin up big time.... could this be the issue to over heating/running rough??

A clogged cat can cause overheating, but it has to be really clogged up. As for the overheating problem, are you certain that it's overheating? My stock gauge reads very high, but the temp is normal as confirmed by an IR gun and the ECM info. The 96-97 Cobra and GT have crappy radiators that can cause overheating.

As for hesitating, that can be a ton of stuff. Vacuum, plugs, wires, timing, fuel, clogged cat, etc.
