1997 T45 Transmission Removal and Clutch Replacement
We are about to remove the transmission on our 1997 Cobra to replace the clutch. The throw out bearing has fallen apart.
I'm interested in hearing any tips you guys may have.
I also need to know a few things.
Since the transmission and the bell housing are one unit, I'm concerned about how high the car has to be off the ground to get the T45 out. Is having the car on 4 metal ramps enough lift?
What is the best method for supporting the rear of the engine? I've seen a few videos where it looks as though nothing was used. That just doesn't seem right to me.

I think the motor mounts will hold the engine. I believe on some Mustangs(my 99) the starter is hard to get all the bolts out.
Also some of the bell-housing bolts can be difficult. People use ratchets with multiple extensions for top bolts
Not sure on 97's though?

Getting the exhaust pipe out of the way is the hard part, especially if the car has never had the transmission out. Top starter bolt is also a pain in the ***, but not all that bad. My 97 Cobra never had the transmission out and it took me 3 hours to get it out, now it takes me maybe an hour.
The metal ramps should get it high enough. The motor mounts hold the engine fine, no need to support it.

Thanks for the input everyone.
I figured the exhaust would be a pain.
I'll have to get another swivel joint for the ratchet.
The metal ramps are high enough to pull the T5 etc on the 65. Hopefully, it'll work out for the Cobra.
I've read that the T45 is fairly heavy. Thoughts on transmission jacks?

Pilot Bearing has no Number, it’s the one for a 5.0 only.
