Mystic Cobra Paint
Hi all
I am new on the Mustang scene and require some help please.
I have just recently purchased a 1996 mustang cobra SVT in mystic green. There are a few chips and other paint/age related issues on the car and I am really struggling to buy some paint here for it (UK). Is there anyone who can guide me to the right place/person to get some paint for it here or abroad?
Thanks in advance!

From what I understand, getting replacement Mystic paint was a real PITA. They used to require a Ford tech to be onsite to verify your VIN and that you really needed paint repairs and weren't just trying to buy the paint. And the paint itself was super expensive. I am not sure if this is still the case after all these years. But prepare yourself in case it is still the case, you may have to jump through hoops and/or spend a lot of money. Plus, I'm not sure if your being in Europe will add any pain to the process...

It might not be as difficult as it sounds at first. Remember there are mystic '04's. And all manufacturers are required to continue making replacement parts and repairation items, like paint, for 10 years after a model year. So the mystic paint will still be made up until the 2014 MY.

I believe the 04 Mystichrome is a different paint. As I understand it, Mystichrome is a single application paint, like any other paint. Still more expensive, but normal in other regards. The Mystic paint is physically different, and it is applied in layers in multiple applications. I can't swear to it, but that's the way I've seen it stated most often...

Hi All
Thanks for your replies. It seems it will be a PITA to get hold of this paint here but I will keep trying.
I will post some pics on the weekend when I am not working.
In terms of plans I am going to keep it as much OEM as possible as I am that sort of person and I also own a 1991 Porsche 928 S4 so will be difficult spending money on both.
Is their anyway to improve the fuel mpg? I have owned big cars in the past like an m3, m5, 300zx twin-turbo and the mustang seems really bad on fuel compared to the other 'gas guzzlers'. Maybe the fuel here is over priced!
Thanks

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the cobra
Wish you lots of luck find that paint, Crystal White(ZR code ) is getting hard to find also.
Those color change paints can be tough to blend , Its painted in several stages
Your best best might be to check out ebay or a paint supplier like PPG if you have that Co. in UK
