Is this 01 Cobra a good deal?
I'm looking at a 2001 Cobra with 111K with a 03/04 tranny with 80k on it, top end rebuild at 100k with a few other upgrades.(exhaust, intakes) It runs and drives very good. The guy wants 8k and no less... Tires need replaced, interior is a 8/10, exterior is a 6/10. No rust at all. Good deal? I checked it out and the seller is accurate in his description but the higher miles and paint blemishes are my sticking point.
Thanks

Thanks for your opinion AK_Kayaker, I agree that mods don't add much if any value to a car, but the Nada value is 9300ish in my area (from a dealer) and it seems like a reasonable deal. NOT a great/very good deal, just an average deal. What am I missing? I need more opinions/problems/info related to these cars. The guy says 8k or no deal, I'm fine to look elsewhere but it IS much cheaper than other cobras. The "other" cobras are in much better shape and way less miles, but these guys are asking like $15k-18k or more which is ridiculous.

Well you can't go by just one on line price page, I like to use KBB, Nadaguides, and Edmunds.
When I did my Nada search, I put in a Philly zip code, I didn't see anything for Cobra, must have missed it price was much less, then I tried KBB, and it came back at $6500 clean retail, I did not check Edmunds.
What ever you do good luck to you, and Merry Christmas.

Agree with the above, be patient and keep looking. Even if the price was right I kinda get the impression that the car might be a basket case.
What stands out to me is the engine rebuild. These are pretty stout engines, and a rebuild at 100K makes me wonder what sort of abuse this car has been subjected to. Taken care of and not overly abused, there is no 4.6 engine on the planet that should not go 200K or more without needing any major work. Which brings me to my next suspicion, that the transmission was also changed out of necessity rather than the simple desire to upgrade.
