Default 96 Cobra won't go into 5th or reverse

I have the '96 SVT Mystichrome Cobra and it won't go into 5th or reverse. It seems like a fairly common issue I've seen online with the t5 transmission. Most people are saying it was the linkage and they set it back in place and it was alright. I haven't worked on transmissions in years, could anyone tell me how I could fix this or send a guide or something to that sort? I haven't been able to find anything online that could help. Thanks for any help!

Welcome!

First thing I would check is engine mounts. If you open the hood, does the engine look like it's leaning over to one side?

It doesn't seem to be leaning. Engine seems fine

I just tried to put it into gear while it was off and it goes into gear while the car is off. But not while it's on

t45s are common to have 5th/reverse problems, requires tearing transmission apart and installing updated components
