Injectors are out. Should I replace them?

Default Injectors are out. Should I replace them?

Hi all. I'm pulling the heads off my '96 Cobra to fix a blown-out spark-plug hole. Pulled the fuel rail and injectors yesterday, and I'm thinking that at 160K miles I should probably replace the injectors. Anybody have a different opinion?

I'm not going to spend a bunch of money to "upgrade" them, so what replacements do people recommend? The car is NA and will probably stay that way. I can't find new OEM injectors.

Or should I get a rebuild kit and do that instead?

I'll have to defer to someone more knowledgeable about the typical lifespan of these injectors, but FWIW, I think this would be a good time to flush them out. Just a quick clean to ensure that they're not about to clog up anytime soon.

Thanks. I ordered a kit with new filters & O-rings. Holding off on getting an ultrasonic cleaner until I get some feedback.

If I had to take mine out, I would replace them, especially at those miles. Cleaning
them is okay, but if one is bad, or failing, you won't know till it happens.

If you're going to replace them, buy them as a flow matched set. otherwise you may be no better off, or you'll be worse off than what you took out. Flow matched sets cost a few bucks more but if you're going through the cost of replacing them for "maintenance" purposes, may as well make it worth your while. They're usually offered by level of matching as in how close to each other they are. The lower the number the better but that also means the higher price. 3% is usually minimum and lowest cost, 2% is mid-range and midrange cost, 1% is best but highest cost.

Where ever you buy them from should be able to provide a certificate of calibration or flow matching that not only gives the spec but also the type of equipment used. if they don't do that, keep looking.

Stokestack, I would definitely install new injectors. I like the 24 LB/HR injectors from ACCEL. Model Number: 150824. Remember, you get what you pay for. Check out my numbers/info before purchasing them. I believe they are a direct replacement.
