What does the oil look like? What was the coolant level at after your wife noticed the temp pegged? Symptoms of a blown head gasket are:
- White smoke from the exhaust pipe.
- Bubbles in the radiator or coolant overflow tank.
- Overheating engine.
- White milky oil.
- Fouled spark plugs.

the oil is clean not milkey i put about a gallon of watwe in the overflow started the car and waited for the temp to get up to normal and tested the block with a block tester and it took a little bit but the fluid turned yellowish after a little bit i then shut it off and the overflow went down quickly and i havent done anything since then except put the overflow cap on it. it didnt run hot when i tested the block and there wasnt alot of white smoke either in fact the smoke that was coming out the exhaust disappered rather quickly lile it was condensation
