Motor question on 03 cobra
Hey guys, In two weeks my 03 cobra motor come in. This is what I was thing to do with mods, CAI, long tubo headers, X pipes, Whipple or a KB. I'm looking to make 600rwhp. Do I need to change the pistons, cams, valve sprinds, port the heads????
Thanks, Mike

RE: Motor question on 03 cobra
1. Everything in the block is solid for your horsepower needs.
2. Check the heads to see if less than nine spark plug threads. If they are then you should consider updating them to latest release.
3. Long tube headers are not necessary and are a pain in the butt.
4. Before installing engine do the cooling modification that helps circulation of coolent in the drivers side head.
Good luck with your project....

RE: Motor question on 03 cobra
I have an 04 cobra. The internals on the engine you bought are good for a good bit more than what you are looking to achieve. I second the opinion on the headers. My friend has an 03 cobra. He installed long tubes on it, took him all day, and when he dynoed it, a gain of about 5 horsepower is all it gave him. Enjoy the engine, it's a beast.

RE: Motor question on 03 cobra
I know the long tubes headers are pain but if the motor is on a lift, I would just change them. Good to know they only give 5hp.
The guy that I'm buying the motor from made a video for me. He said the bearing in the s/c is shot, but it was fine before the crash. Check out the vidoe and tell me what you hear? Is it the bearing making the noise. It has a stage 3 port too.
