I just recently sold my 03 Cobra Vert b/c I was concerned about long term problems. I had around 20K when I sold mine, but there had been too many problems with it already (and it was only mildly modified with a few bolt-ons).

I'm just curios if anybody here has an 03-04 with very high mileage and has any problems or good stories to report.

I had the noisy throw-out bearing issue, but I think it was rather common when you hit more than 18K. Ford did not offer to replace mine b/c they said it still functioned properly, and the failure was intermittent (squeaky sometimes, just kind of roaring a little other times).

I am suprised that I had the most miles so far (about 20,800) considering I bought my 2003 brand new off the lot in July 2004 (had 270 miles on it from dealer 'test drives') and sold it in August 2005.

I did keep it on the road a lot. Guess I liked to drive mine more than most people! [sm=gears.gif]

My convertible had several issues:

1. Noisy throw-out bearing (occured around 17K miles) - Ford would not fix
2. Top leaked, constantly back at dealer for adjustment (when top didn't leak, water would blow in under passenger door)
3. Paint failed on hood and began flaking off (about 1K miles) - Ford repainted for free (twice)
4. Trim around back of top discolored from sun (about 15K) - Ford replaced
5. Moisture in rear tail light (about 12K) - Ford replaced
6. Center tail light failed, half the LEDs went out (about 12K) - Ford replaced
7. Car would go dead at stop lights (about 3K) - Ford re-flashed and problem went away
8. Car would NOT go into first gear (about 1K) - Ford checked out and adjusted clutch, said there was no problem (why adjust clutch then?)

With this many issues in the warranty period, I was highly concerned with what might happen after my warranty went out. Especially since the car ALWAYS leaked.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the power and appearance of the car, but it's daily driveability and reliability (at least in the vert) could be quite annoying.

When I bought it I thought I would drive it for many years, but I had to give it up:

Wow...sorry to hear that. It does sound like most of the problems you had were Mustang related vs. Cobra related. When I think of Cobra probs I think of driveline issues mostly or anything related to the charger. Someday I'd love to one of these cars.

The throw out bearing is a common prob among all stangs. I have a 94 GT, that I love and it started the noise at about 28,000 miles. I just dealt with it. I now have 197,000 miles and the thing runs great. I rebuilt the tranny at 171,000 myself and installed all new clutch components and I noticed about 5k miles ago every now and again if I am riding with the window open the noise is back but it is intermittent. I cannot hear it inside the car with the window closed which is better than previous which I could pretty much hear all the time unless I rested my foot on the clutch. BTW, this car is the most reliable car I could have ever imagined owning...it's been unbelievable....so go figure.
