RE: Advice for new 2003 vert owner
They can be reliable if all that power isn't used consistantly
My Concerns;
stock clutch wasted after a few 1/4 mile runs
Engine components (rod bearings.piston scuffing etc)
axle shafts ripped into two parts
transmission retainer gone
wrapping around utility poles cause you're on ice every time you bust loose on the street from wheel spin ( unless you can afford to run ETs on the street and hope it dosen't rain)
Differential splitting
Really 600 hp in Cobra is common and they are reliable, but also people, play to much and they are buying motors as aresult. I still belive 500 Hp is a very wise stopping point for this car
for reasons of modifications and cost plus extra stress on driveline

RE: Advice for new 2003 vert owner
WOW! Glad I registered here I am getting alot more info than I was able to find on my own. Now that I have the car I have what is most likely a stupid question. Does the boost stay at 0 lbs most of the time with the exception of moderate to hard acceleration? Also, I have not seen a JLT CAI where I have been looking. Can you point me to a site to check them out? As for the KB, I though it was OK to run in a street car if you use the milder of the two that they sell but it looks like porting the Eaton would be more cost efficient anyways. For reliability, I plan to drive this car alot when I am not scaring the hell out of everyone on my bike, will the 2.76 pulley be too much boost for a daily driver that will be driven fairly hard? BTW, a heat exchanger is probably a good idea for me as I tend to drive like an idiot for extended periods when no one is in my way Thanks again to everyone helping me out with my endless questioning.

For your described driving it sounds like you should invest in every sort of cooling mod available.

You are begining to sound like you will always want more speed
Might as well and go with the big bell to start off with, skip spending $ on Eaton set up
Then you can dream about twin turbos
Personal I wouldn't go there if someone gave me the parts to do it
