Default RE: modifications for the 03

I'm sitting at 585 at the rear wheels using 91 pump gas. Mods are as follows:

Kenne Bell Autorotor using 17# boost
60# injectors
Accufab TB
Pro-M 92mm MAF
Metco Idlers
Predator custom tune (So-Cal Diablo)

I need to get together with my tuner to dial it in even tighter - expecting an additional 15-25 ponies from that.

I say get a D1sc procharger. I think the numbers on that are like 700hp, and the prices are reasonable, around 3-4 grand? But don't quote me on that.

The most common mods are CAI, mid-pipe,catback,upper and lower pulley, and ported Eaton.

This will get you into the 500 RWHP range. After that, you have to start changing components in your fuel system to support the added power. Bigger injectors, MAM, etc.

With all this talk about adding so mush more horsepower and torque started wondering about the drive components. I heard that the half shafts in the Cobra's are weak and it doesn't take a lot more torque from the original torque to snap them. Has anyone run across this? Also if this is the case, has anyone swapped them out for a stronger pair? Also does the Cobra come with body stiffeners? If not, might want to look at that too.

Thanks for your time.

Sincerely,

Jeff

I have not replaced my half-shafts personally, but I know people who have. But they also run their car about every weekend at the track. Anytime you launch at a moderately high rpm with the IRS, you run the risk of it.

I know that quite a few places are starting to see stronger after market ones.

Todd,

Do you know anyone who strenghened their bodies? I had heard that the Mustang bodies tend to twist a little under high torque.

Thanks for your time.

Sincerely,

Jeff

I don't know of anyone who has done that yet. But a couple of guys in my club are talking about full length weld-in sub-connectors. But the reason they were planning it was for making the chassis stiffer for improved handling.

I have also read numerous posts at other places where the owners were putting down way more than my car(aftermarket blowers, etc.) and had not experienced that problem.
