Maybe it's nothing, but maybe it is?
i was just reading the news and noticed an article from USA Today about the millionth mustang being built at Ford's assembly plant. interestingly, the article took a moment to divert its attention to the fact that prototype Ford Fusions were built beside this millionth mustang to test the assembly process that has been designed. This led to the following quote:
"The next-generation Mustang and Fusion will share the new body shop and paint process, said plant manager Tim Young."
maybe it's nothing, but the first thought through my head was the fears a lot of Mustang enthusiasts have, this thing may really look a lot like the Fusion. they're sharing the same body shop? i really have barely any knowledge of assembly lines and how they work, but is this suggesting that the next-generation Mustang and Fusion will have similar enough parts that they'll be able to share an assembly line? hmm.

I believe the millionth mustang was produced back in 1966. That may have been the millionth mustang that Flat Rock produced. With todays assembly lines its no big deal to run two completely different cars on the same line.

Yes, that was the 1,000,000 Mustang produced at the Flat Rock plant - not the 1,000,000 Mustang in history since 1964 (they sold a couple hundred thousand of the 1965 as I recall, big surprise to Ford because they hoped to sell less than 100,000 of them in their forecast)
