Having owned both generation last gen Dodge Chargers, THOSE were a totally different design and a well warranted change.

I hope the same for the new Mustangs.
I'm a big fan of how the 2011+ Charger looks and drives (rented one a couple of winters ago and drove up to Vermont). Just wish they made one with a stick (or even a dual clutch system).

However, I haven't felt any situation driving where I thought 'damn, I wish this car had IRS', but my favorite car back in Europe had a torsion beam rear suspension, which is just as 'bad' but lent itself to giving me a bit of oversteer and a rear wheel off the ground in turns.
That's actually a horrible idea. Having the two designs, IRS and SRA, share hard points would lead to an overall compromised system. That's the exact reason why the IRS in the Edge Cobras was/is mediocre without massive overhauling.

Do we think this is possible with an independent rear? Curious to hear what others in here think.
If the IRS is indeed the Gen IV Control Blade system there should only be a very slight gain in weight over a SRA of equivalent size. (30-40lbs maybe). It's very hard to say whether or not that's the case though because the pics don't show the entirety of the setup.

Some dislike the CBIRS, I for one would like to see it underpin my next Mustang. Hell, the older variants did/do quite well under the OZ Falcon, an updated version can only do better.

They're great cars. Ditto on the lazy transmission. I spent about $2,800 last year on transmission mods, just to get it shifting right but it was well worth it.

Not sure about you, but I don't want to shell out that much for a custom PCM(BG) and tune.

Sure, it'll run high 11's, custom tunes, NA and tires but with a $46-55k price tag, I wouldn't have enough left over to spend on mods
Get off dodge's nuts would you. It's to F'n heavy to be a straight line performance car and anyone who dumps money into it to go faster is wasting their money. I own a chrysler 300 and it's fk'n heavy as ****. He said a stock 5.0, as in not tuned. A tuned 5.0 will murder those turds.

lol and you call me a fan boy.

A tuned 5.0 would not murder a tuned SRT-8. It barely runs even with a stock SRT-8.

The stock 300 6.1 is nowhere near a stock Charger 6.4...
