So true. My wife had to have a new Camaro SS when they started making them again. It's a big car but handles great. And I can still cut 1.8-1.9 sixty all day with the stock suspension and P-Zeros. I don't feel like the 5.0s have any advantage over me with their solid rear at the drag strip at the stock power levels of both cars.. So there is absolutely no reason why the new Mustang cant handle with the bench marks of the world. Theres just no excuse for keeping the solid axle anymore other than being cheap skates.

I agree with Steve and the S197 platform was build with road handling in mind.
Bone stock wasn't so great but a set of good springs and shocks like Konis, made the car easily above average and kick zee Germans's butt on a road course.

Yes, retractable hard top.

This is the new generation, other cars have them.

What I mean by the interior dash, is that is was designed like a cockpit of an airplane, with just two colors. But the outside of the car is more sport sexy/luxury type look/European.
The interior dash needs to more like the outside of the car, a little more sexier, not like a robot
control panel look all the way around, just add more colors to it(stripes, accents, pony or 5.0 badging, something) and more leather wrapping on top with pin stripe, from left to right, like the red white, and blue the original 5.0s had.

That would really appeal to everyone, and hit their face.

This new material going around carbon fiber and shaved metal type stuff
has to stop lol.Leather, pin striping, wood grain, badging, that where its at.

Well, that doesn't appeal to everyone. I would really not want pin stripping on my dash nor would I want fake wood or fake carbon fiber even. I really like the new interiors. They're a step up from my '13. The new ones have lots more leather and soft touch materials. And, considering none of us have seen or played around in one of these, it's a little soon to toss it out.

Those cars were all Mustangs and they "looked" like a Mustang because they were a Mustang."

And when you look at the definition of what a Mustang Muscle Car is, none of these are it, it is a fact of Americana. So I guess you are just more of a mustangy guy than me. I liked my 70 Mach 1 because it was a muscle car, I laughed at the SN95 Mach 1, and while the COBRA R was a performer, I could care less. My buddy had and loved his Fox with a built 302 back in the late 80's and it was fast enough, but not a muscle car... in comes the S197 and it ushered in a revival for the what was long ago the big 4 now down to 3 to build the Challenger and the Camaro to compete and you bet it took some sales away from the S197 but it was an awesome time while it lasted. I would wager to say it ushered in the Resto-mod era as well. I can see why some think it's time has passed, as they are obviously much more progressive and with the times as dictated by the designers and marketeers at Ford.

So while you "real" mustang guys want I us fair weather guys to jump on the bandwagon, all I can say is enjoy your Techno-Euro wannabe bimmer Mustang, I will be looking for a 70 Dynacorn shell and build my own monster that may not corner as well as your car, but it will win for style points and be exactly what I want. And in 30 years, what car will be wanted more by a collector, an S550, an S197, SN95, a FOX? We'll just have to see what history judges I guess, in the meantime I will continue to complain of the good ol days gone by and how things just won't be the same with these new fangled contraptions.... I ain't drinking your Kool-Aid
Gee, I think all opinions are interesting. However, this isn't the 1980's or even the 1990's. The Big 3 had a lot less "serious competition" from Europe and Asia in the 80's and early 90's. Today there are a lot of cars with "specs" similar to the Mustang V6, and that makes up 2/3rds of all sales. So, if you come out looking like all the other "shiney new cars," then that is your new competition.
Only time will tell how the market views the new car. But, it certainly isn't about people that buy V8's. I'm sure the Turbo 4 will be popular in Europe.
I hope the new "Fusion coupe" does well (I am a shareholder). For me, I had a 2011 Mustang and now a 2013 GT. In the fall I'll be looking for a new car and I'm starting to look at the new Dodge Challenger..especially the Shaker version. But then I like a car that is an "icon," as opposed to being "hard to recognize without the front badge."

I think most people do not have a problem with newer technology being placed in the car. from what I read its about the looks, and the looks alone.

For me, some days I like it, and some days it bothers me so much I start looking at left over 14's....

This might have been covered as I didn't read every reply but this is a global car now. Ford has had that trapezoid grille for a few years on most of their products here and overseas. It is an identifying feature. People in Europe, Asia, Australia etc aren't as familiar with mustangs. They will see the grille and other features and realize oh that's a ford. In the 80's ford put the oval all over everything, even taking the pony off the mustang, trying to make a stronger corporate identity.
The mustang is a halo car, meaning its not supposed to be a volume seller but attract buyers to the dealership to look at it and then buy other cars. People need to know what dealership to go to, though, so it needs to look ford.

I suspect your comment about making the new Mustang "globally recognizable" is right. Also, the Fusion is the best selling FORD car - by a long shot - in the USA. I'm sure a "Fusion coupe" had a nice ring to the marketing guys. It is a "nice modern looking car." I just don't think it has the look of an "iconic" pony car. I think if you took off the front grill Mustang emblem and parked 6 or eight different new cars next to each other, from the front view, it would be hard to recognize what each was from 50 yards away. I'm not crazy about the Camaro, but at least Chevy didn't make it look like the Impala

If FORD would make a simple tweak to the front it would look way better to me. The hood looks better in person but it still looks too much like a Fusion hood.

Oh my God don't talk about how the front looks like a Fusion. A moderator will butt in with smart *** comments because it's his responsibility to do so, and someone else will start talking about their poop and how it looks like a Fusion too... It's not worth it...
