Default New "Voodoo" ecoboost V8??

So, I had a customer earlier today tell me that he went into a Ford dealership the other day and was talking to one of the salesman there. He told him that this ecoboost motor was going to be a 5.8L twin turbo. Everything that i have read has said it was going to be a displacement of anywhere from 5.0 to 5.5L. Has anyone heard anything about a 5.8? Keep in mind, this was from the mouth of a car salesman, so im not putting THAT much into it, but it certainly has peaked my interest.

People tend to fill in the gaps or mis-hear things all the time.
5.0L-5.5L is what reputable sites state (not just this one). 5.8L is the new Shelby. Maybe your source got confused and salesrep was right or the salesrep was wrong and your source as accurate from what they were told?

Who knows.

I think the info you already have is most accurate.

That's actually one of the websites that i saw the info on. I figured that much, i just wanted to see if anyone else had heard anything. The power figures that they are predicting on that site seem kind of low to me. Im assuming that they are probably running very low boost from the factory.. With that said, i'm pretty excited to see the tunes that will come out for these motors. We're talking some serious HP!

Ford/Chevy/Dodge will never disclose their true power figures until they are ready. Keeps the others guessing. Heck we don't even know what the new 2015 mustang power specs are yet and that is a mainstream production model, not a niche model or drivetrain like the ones you're talking about.

That and even if they release figures, they are almost always conservative (underrated) because they want to blow people out of the water.

The exception are some of the 1999 SVT Cobras were actually overrated (rated for 320 HP but found to only have 305 hp). Thus the reason there was not a production build of 2000 Cobras (there were some niche ones built). Ford pulled the car off the market to revise the engine for 2001 to make the advertised 320HP crank power.
