I told you so! I blame all the kids with the got to have it independent rear suspension hopes and dreams.

I also blame all the whiny cry babies who want their cars to be able to withstand a 200mph head on collision.

So I think I have finally decided to sell the 06 and look for a shelby to take it's place. If new mustangs are going to weigh as much as a gt500, then i might as well have the power of the gt500.

Until then, I look forward to smoking all the fools that buy this fat pig of a car, in my featherweight 06.

I all ready weight 150 and I'm nearly 6 foot. You shouldn't need your car to get fat before you notice you are.

Ehhh... It was time for me to diet anyway.

If this news comes from Steeda then in all likely hood...they're going to work out some weight saving tweaks that will benefit the modders.

This is another reason you don't buy a first year release of a model redesign. Just like when the s197 first came out. Each year they made it lighter and each refresh came with more power and torque. These ponies will get lighter. Maybe by the time they work out the GT350 and Mach1 for final release ... You'll see how they address this. Lighter motor internals, lighter tubular sub frames components, Carbon body panels etc, etc, etc.

Patience.

How much does your car weigh?

Id like to see the final figures from Ford for each trim level. It does seem like the GT will be close to the two ton mark (coupe) which seems like a lot especially considering its size.

Hopefully the IRS really helps the car's handling.

I don't know what my car weighs. it's a 06 gt premium manual transmission with 17 inch factory rims. One piece driveshaft, wing removed, all the suspension parts have been changed to aftermarket. I'm sure the pypes m80 are a lot lighter than the stockers.

I'd guess 3550 or less. I've seen stock ones weigh 3450 and even with the whipple HO, i doubt I'm more than 100lbs over that.

I will not buy a 3900lb mustang gt, no freaking way! I might as well buy a challenger, at least it looks better.

If I remember correctly... the s197's shed weight each consecutive year up to 2014, possibly a 150 to 250 lb spread over that time. So I would guess the first s197's in 2005 weighed about what these s550's will weigh as a first model year release.

I could be way off...but, without having the old reference material to gleen over...my guess is I'm barking up the right tree or pretty spot on with this assessment.

Just saying.
