Default Can you add Nav if it doesn't have it???

Looking at a 15 GT Premium, Comp Orange, 6 speed manual, 3:55 gear & 50th Anniversary Package. It has Sync MyFord Touch but no Navigation. The salesman says they can add a chip to this car and have Navigation working. Does anyone know if this can be done. I want Navigation, but adding it to a system that didn't initially come with Navigation, well..........I'm a little concerned about the performance of the Navigation if this addition is done.

Probably should order, while I still can, the car I want. GT Premium, White, 6 speed manual trans, 400A, 3:55 rear gear, Premium Trim w color Accent Group (black & red) and Voice Activated Navigation.

I'm just curious if the dealership can add Navigation to a car that didn't initially come with Navigation by add/modifying a chip?

adding navigation is simple; you buy the SD card which contains the map data, the dealer changes a few things in the SYNC module, and ping! you have navigation. it's the same as if you had ordered it in the first place.

Thanks jz78817 for the info. The sticker price is $795.00 for Nav, wonder what the dealer will charge to add Nav with the SD card? I'll ask.

Just emailed the dealership and they say;

"We need to add the GPS computer and the antenna. The cost for adding this is $1,800. There's a lot of labor involved.
It is done with genuine Ford parts."

It's much better, and way cheaper, to order or buy a GT Premium with Nav installed.

navigation cannot be added after the fact. the dealer does not have this capability. yes, your car has everything it needs if you have mytouch. yes, you have a sd card slot but there is a VIN specific software activation and if your was not built with it you can't get it. if you managed to take the APIM, the control module, out of a car with navigation it would work up until the point any of the vehicle's modules require an update. at that point the software would recognize that the VIN does not match and would revert back to factory settings. by the way, a new APIM costs more than the navigation feature.

the dealer is incorrect. there has never been one example of a dealer able to add this feature. it does not matter how much money you throw at it.

Hmm, I've seen a thread or post elsewhere, on reddit I think, where people were able to get it to work. Do some more googling and I am sure you will find it.

I know for fact it cannot be done permanently. You could take an APIM from another car and put it into yours but as soon as the IDS(dealer's diagnostic system) is hooked up the vehicle will know the VIN in the module does not match and will revert back to factory. I know it sounds stupid to have someone tell you not to trust other posts on the net while expecting you to trust me but....... it cannot be done. I have also never had a dealer refund the cost to a customer after purchasing all of the modules they will say you need to get it to work. There are some aftermarket options though. I would caution though because once you do this none of the factory warranty applies to the MyTouch system anymore.

It's much more costly to add Navigation, $1800.00 quote from local dealer, than to order it, $795.00, or buy a Mustang GT with Navigation.

Do you think it would continue to work as long as it isn't plugged in at the dealership? What if I were to take the module out if I were to bring it in and then put it back in afterwards?
Thanks for all your info so far.
