Default Limiting gt350 was a mistake

I believe Ford should sell and make as many gt350s as possible.

Today we know the details, but just a few months ago everyone is thinking, "why buy a GT when I can get a flat plane crank soon."

That dream is gone and you are stuck with a GT forever.

My reason for believing this is the imminent future and how fast it will be changing. By next year Tesla will have the Model X on the road. The talk will be about the Model 3. The Camaro will have beat the Mustang GT in every way. And then the GT350 2016 model comes around again? I am not a sales professional but I think in that environment it will sell far less than if they would've just made 1,000 plus this year.

I'm wondering if anyone else thinks this is a huge mistake. Mistakes happen and that's fine. It's tough to time things perfectly. If it's a great marketing campaign for the brand I can believe that as well. But the one thing I cannot see it being is the passion to sell a good car.

I'm open to opinions and discussion.....if they indicate an educated opinion about the current and future market.

history does not side with you, they will sell these cars for 10 15 thousand over sticker just like they did with the gt500 when it first came out, and buy limiting the production they will most likely create a car that will gain value over the years. they sold the ford GT for something like 120k and one just went for 500k at barret jackson 2 weeks ago, thats alot of gain in just 9 years. they shouldnt bastardize every special edition car they make

The issue is that even pushing the invoice price as high as they can, it's not a profitable car. Its a halo-effect car to generate buzz. Limiting sales keeps cost of the hype it generates in budget.

what? the "limit" is for 2015 MY GT350s. You need to understand that they can start selling "2016 MY" cars any time after January 1, 2015.

besides, were you going to buy a GT350?

This.

I love how everyone knows better than Ford. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Ford has been around for a few years - and they didn't take the bailout money.

I think it's a great idea to offer a limited amount of 2015 gt350s to celebrate the 50th anniversary. Common folks can always buy the lame 50th GT edition. I sure Ford will want to move as many 2016 GT350s as they can.

Part of the reason for the limit on the 2015 GT350 is based upon how many original GT350's were done by Shelby.

Ford could have just waited and not offered a 2015 at all. Everyone seemed plenty happy with it being a 2016 MY.

I call it the Apple effect make a limited supply to create a buzz around the product. Dodge did the same thing with the Hellcat. Ford will get people in awe over the GT350 and sell more mustangs in general because of it.

Or a convenient part of the justification. But yes, the official Ford explanation revolves around the 34-38 original cars, depending on whose numbers you use.
