2015 Ford Mustang V6 or 2015 Volkswagen GLI as a Daily Driver?
Hello all! I am a soon-to-be college student in need of a brand new car. My two biggest options are the brand new Mustang, and the GLI. I want something DEPENDABLE, reasonable gas mileage, a good cost of ownership, and most importantly FUN TO DRIVE! I will be driving for 40 minutes every day to get to college, and then another 40 minutes back home and I don't feel like breaking the bank on a purchase exceeding (roughly) $32,000. Thank you guys for all your input in helping me through this!

I vote Focus ST or Fiesta ST.
However my two son's and daughter all drive to school everyday.
21 yr old drives a 2000 lifted Grand Cherokee. Good news for him he just goes to the train station.
19 yr old drives my previous DD 2006 Fusion SEL
16 yr old drives a recently purchased 2006 Mercury Milan.
So I agree while my kids dont drive beaters like I did as a kid, they certainly dont drive brand new Mustangs.

I don't think VW is known for their reliability. Plus they are a pain to work on. Fords are easy. I've got a 13 V6 and I've got over 45k. No issues at all. Runs great and I don't see any problems arising in the near future.
Get the performance package though. The 273s are trash. That's the only option I wish I had on mine. Keep it manual too.

Had a VW Golf (Rabbit) years ago.... never again... by the way you don't see many old Rabbits around anymore ...way too expensive to repair....but hot-hatches are fun to drive (Focus ST is good too). Also have a 2011 Mustang/6 and currently also a 2.3T. If you have $32K budget (!!!), you can get a base 6 or (my preference) a 2.3T for $24-26K easy. On longer trips and if you play music, the Mustang is greatly preferred. The fun-factor and economy of the 2.3T is in line with a hot-hatch (high 20's average MPG), For the campus cool-factor, no contest.

Get the Mustang you won't be disappointed!! VWs are expensive to repair. Love my 15 GT - fun to drive, fast as hell, and I'm getting almost 20mpg with my foot in it:
