I ordered a GT Premium on Saturday. Can anyone with a recent order tell me about how long it takes for the order acceptance, VIN to be issued and car to be shipped and delivered?

the dealer probably told you "about 6-8 weeks." Which is about right. it's not that it takes that long to build a car, but the automaker already has 4 weeks of production scheduled, so yours needs to wait until the next rotation to be put into the build schedule.

within a couple of days you should be able to get a copy of the DORA (Dealer Order Receipt Acknowledgement)

My 16, v6 took way longer. I ordered it Aug 13th and got it Sept 23rd. They told me some story that they had issues with the automatic v6s I don't know if it was because I also ordered the 3.55s with the auto. I know my car was the first 16 mustang at the dealer I bought it from.

Thank you all for the info. The dealer said the same- 6-8 weeks, and said it would be about a month for the VIN to be assigned. He didn't mention the DORA and I'm hesitant to ask, I already bothered him several times with clarification questions about the deal as I was placing the order.

Waiting is not one of my strengths.

why should you worry about "bothering" him? You're forking over $35,000+ for something, if he can't answer a few questions you should find a different dealer.

i ordered mine a few days before you and received my VIN last friday; however there is no build date at this time

Thanks. I got some info from my dealer showing the VIN and scheduled build the first week of May. I hope it comes up sooner than that but who knows. VIN's for cars scheduled for mid to late March build are in the 308000 range. Mine is 316XXX. They have already built over 100,000 2016 Mustangs.

are you referring to the last few numbers of the VIN; if so i am also 316XXX; i will get an update on my order monday
