Default Putting GT front brakes on a V6 Base

So recently I purchased a V6 base and put on 19 inch OEM rims. I was wondering if I could purchase GT front takes offs and have them put on my V6 without changing too much else?

I feel the car needs a tad more stopping power.

Yes you can. It's a cheap upgrade that can usually be found on eBay.

Fantastic!

A friend mentioned something about a brake cylinder and that I have to make sure the new brakes would fit.

All you have to do is get the bigger rotors and the bracket - no need to change out a "cylinder", unless the S550 is way different from the S197. On the S197 it was the same caliper, just a different bracket and larger rotor.

No, bracket that holds the caliper.

I only have pictures from when I did it on my S197 -

By not replacing the caliper you don't crack open the brake system, so no fluid loss and no need to fill and bleed the system.

Now the S550 could be different, but to the best of my knowledge it is simply the bracket still that you replace.

I think you'll want the caliper also. The GT has more/bigger pistons in the caliper than the V6.

I just did a comparison on RockAuto.com of the calipers for a 2016 and the answer is "it depends".

The calipers have the same part number, unless you have the performance package it looks like.
